....is a HIDEOUS looking vehicle in my opinion.
I saw one in the wild this morning on my way home from work. I was appalled. It’s as if they took a page from the 50s where people tried to make things LOOK futuristic and expanded upon that ideal. It will not age well.

I’ve only seen it in both red and blue metallic, and I must say it looks quite good in those, despite of its extreme styling, which looks far from pretty in white.

All of these things must die. They should be thrown into a giant shredder used to destroy horses and other large animals.
Their sheet metal is made of tin and is not even worthy for being used for soup cans.
The plastic interior bits are not even suitable for children’s toy use.
The gas motor is better off for a lawn mower.
The electric motor could possibly be used to power a Barbie Power Wheels.
The transmission could be used to act as a pulley system for the driver who will want to hang himself/herself after realizing what an ugly pile of poo the Prius is.

At least it’s unique. Something different than the sea of boring, weirdly similar looking sedans.

Age well? It started ugly. It will either be forward-thinking or become a solid contender for the ugliest car ever made.

The front reminds me of a teardrop tattoo, and I hate it accordingly.
ETA: it’s like they said to themselves “hey, you know that part everyone hates on Lexuses? How can we make that worse?”
I kind of love the broken lines on the side, though.

In person, they're ugly. I don't know why people think they're so good. They're just weird. They might be the best part of a hideous car, but they wouldn't look good elsewhere.

True. I don't really notice them unless they're in a light color. But white shows off body designs the best, so if it looks bad in white, it's an ugly design.

The whole point of both the last gen and this gen being so wacky design wise is so that you see one and go “damn thats a prius” good or bad. If they made the prius look like the corolla and or camry you wouldn’t realize just how many of the damn things are on the road.
There are parts I like and dislike in the design, but the fact that you posted this means what they are doing is working :-) Anytime you see one on the road you’ll know it’s a prius....

It’s like New Coke. They made the Prius ugly on purpose to sell more of the more expensive (and Acura-like) Prius Prime.
IT’S A CONSPIRACY, MAN!!!

No one person designed this car. And none of those designers ever talked to one another.

You know, I like the Lexus predator grille, I like the 4Runner’s Gangsta tears, I’m even okay with the Camry’s gaping maw.
But this is just too far. It’s like Toyota is trying to see just how ugly they can make something before people stop buying it.

That’s also pretty ugly if you ask me. Hyundai’s getting my money if I somehow ever had to drive one of these purpose-built hybrids, assuming they fixed that issue where you roll backwards on slopes.
The new FCX Clarity was almost ok then they ruined it with slats and vents and scoops everywhere.

I like the new Prius. Yes, it is far from being a looker, but it does look like a weird techno spaceship...With a design language like that, it was never meant to be pretty...it’s a car designed by engineers, instead of car designers.
But I do like the taillights on a really dark night.
Although, if I had to go with “favourite generic Toyota”, I’d have to go with the Avalon.

I’ve seen a new Prius in person, and I’ve seen the new Civic in person. The Civic is worse. The Prius isn’t even that bad (if you can avoid looking at the front), but at least it looks like a Prius. When I look at the new Civic my first reaction is “oh look, a baby Crosstour” followed by dry heaving.

God damn I’m glad someone said it. It looks EVEN WORSE in person. I have seen a few and I simply wonder how someone paid to own such a monstrosity. As a side note, white might be its most flattering color. The ones I have seen were sea glass pearl which is a crusty green-gray mix. Just awful in every sense.

The taillight may be a striking design, but it too is ugly. As if Toyota tried way too hard to make this thing look futuristic.

The previous Prius was actually an okay-looking car to me. Just like a generic little hatchback. This one tried way, way too hard to be different. And it is atrocious. But it'll sell like crazy anyway.

I was in Odaiba looking at the Toyota hydrogen fuel cell car and concepts and I see a lot of them in this. They had designs like this a while ago. I don’t really like it. Lexus has gotten pretty out there too.

Many manufacturers have done exactly what you stated whilst making vehicles with timeless good looks.
Examples:
This new design is a huge step backwards to me.
